In 2022, I wrote a letter to Santa...which I haven't done in probably 30 years. To be honest, I had forgotten the feeling and magic associated with writing to Santa. I enjoyed that small experience so much that I decided to create an event called “Letters to Santa” at Chris Baldwin Law. We have done this event every Christmas since!
The office creates kits for parents to pick up for their children. Inside these kits are everything a child needs to write their letter to Santa. They can even draw a picture for Santa on the back!
When they're finished with their letter, they just come back by the office and drop it in Santa's Mail Box, which is on our front porch.
Every child who writes a letter to Santa receives a personal letter back from Santa himself. This is one of my favorite parts of the even as I personally write each child a letter praising them for their good deeds and telling them stories from the North Pole.
Finally, Chris Baldwin Law selects some of the letters and buys the presents for those kids. We select as many kids as we can. We buy and wrap presents from their letter and then I dress up as Santa Claus and personally delver the presents to those kids.
Every October, the Randolph County Learning Center hosts a cherished local tradition: the annual Scarecrow Competition. This creative and spirited event invites individuals, businesses, and organizations from across the community to design and display their most imaginative scarecrow creations.
Participants are encouraged to think outside the box, resulting in a diverse array of scarecrows that range from the whimsical to the wonderfully bizarre, all showcased for the public's enjoyment and voting.
This competition not only celebrates the creativity and community spirit of Randolph County but also serves as awareness for the Learning Center, supporting its mission to provide educational and developmental resources.
The Scarecrow Competition has become a hallmark of the fall season, bringing together the community in a festive and fun-filled display of local talent and camaraderie. Below are the scarecrows created by Chris Baldwin Law.
